Press Release Summary = Clinical psychologist and developer of a new tool for grief management to talk at Atlanta conference about Life After Death: The Evidence, With Special Consideration to EVP and ITC. His method induces after death communication in up to 98% of patients.
Press Release Body = April 25, 2006 -- It is called "After Death Communication," or "ADC," because the experiencer seems to come face-to-face with a loved one who is . well who is supposed to be dead. Instances of After Death Communication have always been a rare, spontaneous occurrence, which until recently, most of us could not hope to experience. Dr. Allan Botkin has developed a technique for inducing ADC based on a therapeutic tool known as Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR. Induced After-Death Communication has helped thousands of patients permanently assuage their grief by allowing them private communication with their departed loved ones.
Dr. Raymond Moody previously established the possibility of Induced ADC (IADC) using a combination of practices designed to first make memory of the person vivid in the experiencer's imagination and then building the expectation of having contact with the loved one. With Moody's approach, the attempt to make contact is made with the use of mirror gazing in an especially designed environment known as a psychomantium. Although Moody reported impressive successes, the technique is not considered highly reliable.
Dr. Botkin's technique does not require as much preparation and does not depend on the experiencer's ability to "embrace" mirror gazing as a valid approach to visualization. Botkin has shown that the new clinical tool has a success rate approaching 98%, even if the experiencer is an atheists or a skeptic. As a clinical psychologist, he created the therapy while counseling Vietnam vets in his work at a North Chicago VA hospital. After more than two decades as a clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Botkin founded the Center for Grief and Traumatic Loss and wrote a book detailing his research titled, Induced After-Death Communication: A New Therapy for Healing Grief and Trauma (Hampton Roads Publishing Company, ISBN 1571744231). This book presents the story of how he initially made his discovery and includes eighty-four cases of patients who have experienced the therapy's profound healing effects.
The typical IADC involves the patient reporting having seen a deceased person and that deceased person having told him or her that they are okay and not to grieve. In a number of cases, the deceased person has related information previously unknown to the patient. Dr. Botkin does not argue that IADC experiences are actual communication with deceased loved ones. This is a question that must be answered by further research; however, other speakers at the conference will present substantial and well documented evidence that such communication is possible.
Dr. Gary Schwartz will also present at the conference. As director of the Human Energy Systems Laboratory in the University of Arizona, he is well-known for testing the capability of mental mediums to collect information with the assistance of hypothesized discarnate helpers. Many researchers argue that the convincing results of the double-blind experiments he conducts provides substantial proof that personality survives physical death.
Tom and Lisa Butler, Directors of the AA-EVP, will also speak at the conference. Along with other important forms of evidence for survival offered by Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) and the more inclusive Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC), they will describe the double-blind experiments conducted by members of the AA-EVP. In these experiments, known as the 4Cell EVP Demonstration, cooperating etheric entities function as a fifth member of the team to answer question only known to the Questioner. The 4Cell experiments show that it is possible to develop a strict experimental protocol that can produce very evidential information about the world inhabited by the discarnate communicators.
EVP and ITC researchers from around the world will also present evidence for survival of the personality after so-called death. Amongst these are Diana and Alan Bennett, the mediums for the world renowned Scole experiments who are now conducting ITC research. Sonia Rinaldi will describe her successes in connecting grieving families with their discarnate loved ones. Alexander MacRae will detail his experiments in an isolation room that proved EVP are not stray radio signals, sound or imagination. Paolo Presi will describe the research being conducted by the world's only true EVP/ITC research lab. Martha Copeland will bring attendees up to date on the evolution of the "Big Circle," which is a joint effort of a group of discarnate loved ones with their still "living" families to learn how to continue their relationship across the veil. Mark Macy will detail his work with ITC and Laurie Monroe will explain the EVP research being conducted by the Monroe Institute. Finally, the founder of the AA-EVP, Sarah Estep will talk about her experiences with EVP in what may be the last public appearance for this most important pioneer.
